When I was a young girl one of my favorite things to do was find
caterpillars. I loved creating a little environment for them for the
purpose of observing them.
I was simply memorized by watching them eating
leaves and crawling along the branches I had placed in there for
them....
Eventually they would go through this miraculous
change, which was no less than a miracle happening right before my eyes.
It was always amazing out of nowhere they formed this enclosure
around them from inside out. They would begin as this fuzzy little
caterpillar with this limited perspective. Then one day they would out
growing their old form.
Something more beckoned them from inside.
Witnessing this process allowed the recognition that nothing in the
process was wasted, everything was integrated and valued. They use
their old form to create the very safe space that brings this mysterious
transformation.
What a metaphor for life.
This beautiful creates teaches us what is possible. Learning to get
out of victim perspective and see the perfection of our life. That all
the possible challenges could possible be perfectly weaved to make
our own chrysalis. Tailor made just for us.
Now the courage to change is perhaps the greatest challenge.
Inside the cocoon their old form then turns to mush and in a short
amount of time they would come out this amazing winged creature
that could fly.
Learning to really honor all these different cycles, especially when
we are in the mush stage or the breakdown is essential. Some of us may
be in that process in life
now.
We may judge ourselves for not being
able to hold our lives together. This part is uncomfortable; cause
holding it together is not part of the design. Yet the way our society is
set up we still have to pay the bills, go to work, take care of the kids,
get good grades and continue to show up.
Transformation means in its definition to transition out of the old
form. Our current world doesn't encourage or recognize the
importance of this process. We don't have many places to collapse
and fall apart to let ourselves die to the old and allow for the new to
emerge.
Creating places to honor each of these in a sacred container is
essential not only in our individual lives but in every situation.
When we learn to honor this process life can begins anew.
The Butterfly emerges
When the wings began cracking through and begin to unfurl, I would
wait patiently. Having this quiet knowing when they were strong and
ready gently taking them out to a beautiful flower and set them free.
That same idea is very true for me today. There is nothing more
satisfying to have a client or circle and have the honor of creating
a safe environment to see the potential of their design. To hold sacred
wherever they are in that spectrum of change. Learning to honor
fist and for most the relationship with ourselves. Truth is we may have
many of these cycles in our life. It is delicate to trust the vulnerability
in each stage, then allowing life to meet you in a new way without
support.
I believe we all came in with so much potential inside. Some of us
go our whole lives never activating that potential. Getting conditioned
by society to continue consuming the leaves of what we have been
given, seeing with only that small perspective.
Imagine if we knew we had a butterfly inside of us wanting to be
transformed into.
Our school systems, our government, and our religions our society
is set up to feed the caterpillar. It encourages that kind of perspective
that keeps us small. Giving us small myopic perspectives that we are
fed from society to believe about who and what we are.
We are so much more.
As with this creature, it is such a beautiful mirror of what is possible
with us. From seed to butterfly we are here to transform. Those of us
that have the courage to face the death of what we were and to
change brings a powerful example for others to follow. It comes out of
trusting the design and embodying love, authenticity and more abundance than
we have ever know simply by following our own internal sacred
unfolding.
There comes a moment in ones journey we have to be willing to
follow and trust our own inner map. When we don’t I believe this is
what causes us the most suffering.
We have deep-rooted beliefs of lack and limitation. Even the wealthy
have this deficit. We don’t trust the process of life. Which causes this
feeling of lack or disconnect from our source. We become what our
parents want us to be, our society wants us to be. We have learned
to attune our ears to what society thinks instead of the magical heart
inspired intuition of our own design.
With a caterpillar they are continually outgrowing their own skin.
They create through layers until they know when it is time to
metamorphosis into a totally new creature.
This happens when we live heart centered. It changes us inside out.
Science has even shown when we live from this vast potential inside
our own chest we are not bound by our pain, trauma, disease in our DNA or genetics. This also means we are not a victim to circumstance. We can change
anything.
So now what?
I challenge you to
The beauty of your own design
To be the unique creation you are meant to be.
